Hope is a native Austinite and has been a nurse for over 10 years. She has devoted her professional life to working with mom and babies in a variety of settings. In 2014, she obtained her graduate degree in Nurse-Midwifery. Although she loves the caring for women through pregnancy and birth, she is most passionate about improving maternal/infant outcomes at the population level, and is excited to see the impact of Family Connects in her own community. She loves spending time with her two young kids, reading, and traveling.
Brenda Fincher, RN
Brenda is a bilingual Registered Nurse who learned Spanish when she lived in Nicaragua as a young child. She moved to Austin from Houston in 2000 and has worked as a mother/baby postpartum nurse for 22 years. She has two grown children and four grandchildren. Brenda enjoys opportunities to educate and share skills that empower parents. She likes to spend time with her grandchildren hiking in the Greenbelts of Austin.
Cindy Gomez, RN
Cindy is a bilingual Registered Nurse with more than 12 years’ experience, primarily in Maternal/Infant Health. She learned Spanish as an adult while living with her husband’s family, who moved here from Mexico many years ago. She has two sons; one adult, and one teenager. She aspires to make a positive difference in our community, specifically by helping people access equitable care that leads to healthier lives. She enjoys writing poetry and spending time outdoors with family on the weekends.
Cheryl Kahler, MSN, BSN
Cheryl is a native Texan who has been a registered nurse for 40 years and has a MSN from Texas Woman’s University. She worked as a school nurse for the majority of her career but most recently practiced as a nurse home visitor for the Houston Health Department. While there, she discovered a passion for maternal/infant health and continues that here in Austin. Cheryl has one adult son and one small rescue dog. She enjoys painting and drawing a well as roller skating, traveling, and shopping.
Felica Watson, MSN, BSN, RN
Felica has over 12 years of nursing experience in Post-Partum, Maternal Health, Med-Surg, Pediatric Home Health and a variety of Specialty Clinics (OB/Gyn, Neurology, and Family Practice). She also has previous experience as a Nurse Home Visitor with Nurse Family Partnership (Any Baby Can). She obtained a BSN from University of Wyoming and completed her MSN in Nursing Education at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. As a mother/wife she understands the joys of parenting, and that everyone has unique family dynamics. She has a passion for building strong families based on evidence-based models. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
